High diffusion and spatial resolution Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) of the brain (1.5mm isotropic voxel size, 64 diffusion directions). Colour-coded orientation map fused on an anatomical 3D T1-w MR image (A, B, C) and whole brain fiber-tracking map (D). Slice acceleration (SMS, Multi-Band) can be used to decrease the scan time and/or achieve higher spatial/diffusion resolution. High diffusion resolution is necessary for advanced diffusion models (e.g. Kurtosis) and for advanced post-processing procedures (e.g. constrained spherical deconvolution, which addresses the crossing fibers issue).
