Achilles Tendon Tear: Care Instructions

Achilles Tendon Rupture “Loud pop” normally while exercising. Tx in ED: immobilization in a short-leg splint, posterior splint keeping the foot in plantar-flexion, non-weightbearing until seen by an orthopedic surgeon. Definitive repair is surgical.

Casting for nonsurgical treatment of ruptured Achilles tendon. This splint is an ankle-foot orthosis that holds the ankle at 15 degrees of plantar flexion and allows controlled motion with physical therapy.
